Migrants hidden in truck stopped in Igoumenitsa
Greek authorities have apprehended two undocumented migrants from Iraq, aged 23 and 26, in the northwestern port of Igoumenitsa as they attempted to travel to Italy concealed within a freight truck.
Additionally, a 52-year-old suspected smuggler, also from Iraq, has been detained in connection with the same incident.

Twelve new members join Greece 2021 bicentennial committee
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday approved the expansion of the Greece 2021 committee, which is responsible for designing and supervising a program of celebrations to mark the bicentennial anniversary of Greece's War of Independence against Ottoman rule.
Motorist killed in crash with train
A woman motorist was killed on Saturday when her car collided with a train near the city of Trikala in central Greece.
Fire service workers removed the woman's body from the wreck of her vehicle following the collision on the level crossing at Pyrgetos. No personal details were made public.

Responsibility and accountability
Something really unusual, at least for Greek standards, happened in the town of Trikala, central Greece.
After failing to complete a water utility project by the deadline, municipal authorities announced they will compensate residents and store owners that suffered because of the four-month delay. The decision will spare them from having to pay water bills for those four months.

Greek surgeon elected president of Doctors Without Borders
Christos Christou, the head of the Greek branch of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), or Doctors Without Borders, has been elected president of the international humanitarian agency.
In an announcement on Monday, MSF said Christou was elected in June and has already assumed his post.
