Turkey subjects lemon to export control amid COVID-19

Turkey has subjected lemons to export control amid a rising domestic demand due to the coronavirus pandemic, an official notification said on April 7. 

The restriction beginning Tuesday will continue until the end of this August.

Lemon is mainly being used for the production of cologne, which serves as an alcohol-based disinfectant.

Latest on the coronavirus: China reports no deaths for the first time

China on April 7 reported no new coronavirus deaths for the first time since it started publishing figures in January, the National Health Commission said.          

Cases in mainland China have been dwindling since March, but the country faces a second wave of infections brought in from overseas, with health officials reporting nearly 1,000 imported cases in total.

95-year-old coronavirus patient recovers

One of the latest survivors of the novel coronavirus in Turkey is a 95-year-old man, who was released from the hospital
with applauds in western Izmir city on April 6.

Ismail Kırdar, who was staying at a nursing home, was taken to the hospital due to high fever on March 25. He tested positive for the coronavirus at the hospital.

He states that they should do so regardless of their political affiliation.
He said that we should just imagine if more than a million pensioners would take to the streets in an hour. "Imagine what that would turn into, it would not be Wuhan, Italy or Spain, but a unique case in the world, all these cases, plus New York and then five times," Vucic said.

Turkey distributes free face masks to citizens

Turkey started distributing free face masks to citizens to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Citizens can apply for free masks through the country's postal services' e-commerce website, ePttAVM.com.

This week, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that people cannot enter shops and marketplaces without face masks.
