Natural disasters, inflation ‘upped insurers’ costs in 2022’
Natural disasters increased insurers' costs in 2022, with inflation pushing up the bill even more, reinsurer Swiss Re said yesterday, warning of likely further rises in the future due to climate change.

T-Rex skeleton to go under hammer
A Tyrannosaurus-Rex skeleton dating back 67-million years will be auctioned in Switzerland next month, marking the first such sale in Europe, the auction house said on March 11.
The skeleton dubbed Trinity will go under the hammer in Zurich on April 18, the Koller auction house said.

Credit Suisse could cut 10 pct of European investment bankers
Credit Suisse could slash more than 10 percent of its investment banking staff in Europe, the Financial Times newspaper reported, with the beleaguered Swiss lender declining to comment yesterday.
Switzerland's second-biggest bank "already let hundreds of staff go in London and Zurich last month," the British financial daily reported on Jan. 14.

The property boom is coming to an end, according to a study by Swiss bank UBS, with Frankfurt and Toronto topping the list of imbalanced markets.
The bank's annual study of the world property market looked at prices in 25 major cities across the globe.

Behind her was Germany's Malaika Mihambo, the current Olympic champion, with 7.03. The bronze went to Britain's Jasmine Sawyers with 6.80.
This is the second gold for the Serbian athlete at the European outdoor championships after the victory in 2016 in Amsterdam, and she also has silver from Zurich in 2014.

A statement from Skyguide states that the Swiss airspace was closed to traffic until further notice due to security reasons due to a technical malfunction that occurred this morning in this agency.

Switzerland closes airspace after computer glitch
Switzerland closed its airspace on Wednesday after a computer glitch with the air traffic control system grounded flights, officials said.
"Swiss airspace is closed to traffic for security reasons after computer failure with Skyguide, the Swiss air traffic control service," Skyguide said in a statement.
