Dimitrov Qualifies for Queen’s Semifinal, After Opponent Pulls Out

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the semifinals of the Aegon Queen's tournament without even having to go on court.

He was scheduled to play Alexandr Dolgopolov later on Friday, but the Ukrainian pulled out of the quarterfinal match, complaining of an injury in his right thigh.

Ivanovic reaches Birmingham semifinal

BIRMINGHAM - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic reached the semifinal of the WTA tournament in Birmingham beating Czech Klara Koukalova in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 on Friday.

Top seed Ivanovic will next take on China's Shuai Zhang, who outlasted Sloane Stephens of the U.S. 6-3, 6-1.

The Serbian player leads the head-to-head with 1-0 after a 6-1, 6-1 victory in Toronto three years ago.

Ivanovic through to Birmingham quarterfinals

BIRMINGHAM - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic sailed through to the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Birmingham, after beating American Lauren Davis in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday.

Top seed Ivanovic proved worthy of the role of favorite after defeating the young U.S. player, for the second time this season, in just 67 minutes.

Dimitrov Beats Ward in Queen’s Second Round

Grigor Dimitrov opened the grass court season with a win over James Ward at the Aegon Queen's tournament in London.

The Brit was able to keep up with his high-ranked opponent only in the first set, which finished 7:5 for Grigor. Following that, the Bulgarian too control of things and cruised to a 6:3 win in the second.
