Chaos: Police deployed, flights canceled PHOTO/VIDEO

Interior Minister Grald Darmanin said that an additional 12,000 policemen and gendarmes will be deployed across the country, 5,000 of which will be in Paris, French online television BFMTV reported.
Darmanin repeated that in France there is freedom of expression, but not the right to create riots and incidents at street protests.

Turkish Airlines carried some 72 million passengers last year

Turkish Airlines carried a total of 71.8 million passengers in 2022, with the international passenger tally rising nearly 6 percent.

Last year, the carrier served 46.3 million international passengers, and the load factor on the international routes was 80.2 percent, Turkish Airlines said in a filing with Borsa Istanbul.

Istanbul Airport busiest in Europe last year

Istanbul's mega airport was the busiest in Europe last year, according to the latest data from Eurocontrol.

It was again a very close race for the top spot, with İGA Istanbul narrowly finishing the year on top with 1,156 daily movements. Amsterdam Schiphol takes the second spot with 1,140 daily flights, down 18 percent from 2019, Eurocontrol said in a report.

Air France, Airbus face trial over 2009 Rio-Paris disaster

Air France and aircraft maker Airbus go on trial in Paris today on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the 2009 crash of a flight from Brazil, killing all 228 people aboard.

The case focuses on alleged insufficient pilot training and a defective speed monitoring probe, which was quickly replaced on planes worldwide in the months after the accident.

Brussels Airlines returns to Ljubljana airport

Turkish Airlines continues to be biggest contributor to Europe's air traffic

Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines maintained its leadership in Europe with 729 daily flights on Wednesday, the European Organization for Air Navigation Safety (Eurocontrol) said on May 27.

According to a flight traffic report prepared by Eurocontrol, Turkish Airlines was followed by Air France, Lufthansa and Ryanair with 467, 386 and 368 flights, respectively.
