European planemaker Airbus said Thursday that it secured 2,094 net plane orders last year, a record for the group as airlines prepare for further global passenger growth and seek out more fuel-efficient planes.

The company also said that despite persistent supply chain problems it delivered 735 jets to clients last year, beating its own target of 720 deliveries.

The chairman of Turkish Airlines has said that the company will make a final decision on plans for a record-breaking order of 600 aircraft in two months.

The airline is in talks with U.S. aircraft maker Boeing and its European rival Airbus to purchase 400 single-aisle planes along with 200 jumbo jets, said chairman Ahmet Bolat.

India has taken steps to allow airlines to lease more aircraft to fill a gap in capacity as travel rebounds from the pandemic, the country's civil aviation minister said yesterday.

İlker Aycı, former head of Turkish Airlines' executive board and committee, was appointed the CEO of India's national carrier Air India, Tata Sons Group announced on Feb. 14. 

Aycı, who was chair of the Turkish Airlines for more than seven years, resigned on Jan. 27.

Nearly 250 million workers strike in India in protest of Modi's economic policies, AFP reported.

Banking and other sectors of the economy across India have suffered damage as millions of workers strike in protest against the economic policies of the Hindu nationalist government, especially against the planned sale of several state-owned companies, including Air India.

Hundreds of thousands of workers affiliated to trade unions led a strike in parts of India on Jan. 8, disrupting transport and banking services in a protest against privatisation and the growing impact of an economic slowdown on jobs.

Air India's servers collapsed, reported NOVA TV. 
Thousands of people around the world have been blocked at airports after Air India's servers collapsed. The problem lasted more than six hours and resulted in serious air traffic violations and the operation of major airports on five continents.

India’s state-run carrier Air India said March 16 it will fly over Saudi airspace to Tel Aviv, a move that ends a decades-long Saudi ban on the use of its airspace for flights to Israel.

An Air India plane bound for London made an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport on Dec. 4 after one of its passengers fell ill, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Turkey's Çelebi Aviation Holding has shown interest in buying state-owned Air India's ground handling operations, India's aviation secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey said on Sept. 8.

Çelebi also provides ground handling services in India.

Çelebi has written to the ministry showing interest to bid for the Indian flag carrier's ground handing operations, Choubey told Reuters.
