Owners in Bulgaria have Earned BGN 14 Million in Income from Properties Rented through Airbnb
More than BGN 14 million in rental income has been received by Bulgarians, real estate owners, who provide short-term accommodation for tourists through Airbnb, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) announced. The data refer to the second half of 2021 and have been submitted to the revenue agency by Airbnb, and the NRA expects information from Booking.com as well.

The European Union's top court yesterday ruled that property rental platform Airbnb is obliged to share booking data with regional tax authorities in the Belgian capital Brussels.
The firm's Irish-based European subsidiary had challenged the Brussels Capital Region's order that it provide information on transactions with tourists who visited the city in 2017.
Tax Authorities have Collected BGN 4 million from Properties Rented through Airbnb
Over BGN 4 million in income has been declared by owners who provide real estate to accommodate tourists through the Airbnb platform, the National Revenue Agency announced. Income taxation of this activity was introduced in February 2020 - about a month before a state of emergency was declared in Bulgaria due to the pandemic, which effectively put tourism on hold.
