Turkey detains 29 people with suspected Islamic State ties planning attacks, says minister
Turkish authorities have detained 29 people suspected of having ties to militant group Islamic State in operations across nine provinces, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Friday.
Suspects captured in "Operation Heroes-37" on Friday were planning to attack churches and synagogues in Istanbul, Yerlikaya said on social media platform X.

US Navy warship crosses Bosphorus, enters Black Sea
A US Navy destroyer on June 11 crossed the Bosphorus and entered the Black Sea, Turkey's Anadolu state news agency reported, as tensions simmer around Ukraine.
The crossing by the USS Laboon was reported as U.S. President Joe Biden met Western leaders at the G7 summit in England.
Turkey detains Iran consulate employee in murder probe
An Iranian consulate employee in Istanbul was remanded in custody on Feb. 12 in connection with a probe into the assassination of an Iranian dissident in Turkey in 2019.
The employee, identified by Turkey's Anadolu state news agency by his initials M.R.N., is suspected of providing forged travel documents for the assassination's alleged mastermind, allowing him to return to Iran.

The journalist Furkan Naci Top, who in recent years has been the head of the Turkish news agency Anadolu's office in Greece, died on Thursday in Istanbul. He was 34.
