The film "La Gomera," directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, Romania's submission for the US Academy award for best international feature film 2020, will have its North-American debut at the "Masters" section of the 44th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place September 5-15.

Corneliu Porumboiu's 'La Gomera' is Romania's entry for the best international feature film category at the 2020 Oscars, having received the majority of the votes at the meeting of the Romanian Film Selection Committee, a RollerCoaster release informs on Monday.

The 12th edition of the Meetings on the Bridge, organized within the scope of the 36th Istanbul Film Festival, was held between April 7 and 11 with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency.

The projects and films that received the Meetings on the Bridge awards were announced at a reception hosted by l'Institut Français Istanbul on April 11. 

The General Directorate of Cinema has announced that it will give a total of 25.6 million Turkish Liras in financial support to 30 projects this year, with the biggest share being granted to the latest film by internationally recognized director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Ahlat Ağacı" (The Wild Pear).
