PM rides Thessaloniki metro’s first trial run
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was a passenger in the first trial run of the Thessaloniki metro on Thursday.
The project has been plagued by years of delays mainly caused by the two re-designings of the Venizelos and Agia Sofia stations and legal wrangling over the antiquities uncovered while digging.

Athens metro heading out to western suburbs
The Infrastructure Ministry has announced the tender for a 4-kilometer extension of Line 2 of the Athens metro from Anthoupoli westward to Ilion with three new stations: Palatiani (at the junction of Thivon Avenue and Kappadokia Street), Ilion (Thivon & Eleon) and Agios Nikolaos (Agios Nikolaos & Paramythia).

Minister pledges to deliver Thessaloniki metro in April 2023
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Kostas A. Karamanlis on Monday reiterated his pledge that Thessaloniki's long-delayed metro will be delivered in full in 2023.
Athens’ Agia Marina metro station closed on weekend for work
Athens metro operator Attiko Metro said on Tuesday that the Agia Marina station will be closed on the weekend of March 14 and 15.
The station, which is the western terminus of the metro's Line 3, will be closed as work is carried on the line's extension to the suburbs of Agia Varvara, Korydallos and Nikaia.
Decision made on Thessaloniki metro antiquities
The Culture Ministry has approved a proposal by the Central Archaeological Council (KAS) for antiquities unearthed during excavation work for the Thessaloniki metro to be removed and repositioned there at a later date.

Piraeus metro beset by delays
Delivery of the Athens metro's extension to the port city of Piraeus is being beset by delays, with the opening of the first three stations (Aghia Varvara, Korydallos and Nikai) being pushed to early 2020 and the other three (Maniatika, Piraeus and Municipal Theater) slated to open in 2021, the company running the project has said.
