Banks’ pre-tax profit down 18% in first five months
Ljubljana – Banks in Slovenia posted a total of EUR 174 million in pre-tax profit in the first five months of the year, which is 18.2% less than in the same period last year due to higher operating costs and the creation of net impairments and provisions, shows the monthly report by Banka Slovenije.

Banking sector reports 84% higher half-year net profit
Ljubljana – Slovenian banks generated a cumulative after-tax profit of EUR 226.4 million in the first half of the year, an increase of 84% compared with the same period last year that the central bank says is the product of a release of impairments and provisions.
Stress tests affirm stability of Slovenian banking system
Ljubljana/Frankfurt – Stress tests conducted by the European Central Bank (ECB) and Banka Slovenije have confirmed the stability of the Slovenian banking system, pointing out Slovenian banks would fare well even under unfavourable economic scenarios. Nevertheless, banks have been urged to stay cautious in the post-Covid landscape.

C-bank says measures helping recovery at expense of fiscal situation
Ljubljana – The Slovenian central bank says the anti-crisis measures have contributed to the economic recovery and to keeping the country’s potential afloat, albeit at the expense of public finance situation. A gradual approach and targeted withdrawal of measures will be needed so that the economy is not exposed again to negative shocks.
C-bank says economic situation continued to deteriorate at end-2020
Ljubljana – The central bank says in its latest publication that Slovenia had one of the worst epidemiological situations in the eurozone in the last quarter of 2020. This demanded strict restrictive measures in the long-term that in turn caused another steep decline in economic activity.
