Greece has appointed BNP Paribas , Citi, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and JPMorgan as joint lead managers to reopen an outstanding debt issue due March 2029, it said on Monday.

Athens is taking advantage of record low yields in the euro zone to beef up cash reserves and add liquidity to its shallow bond market.

Greece's biggest telecoms operator OTE is tapping debt markets with a 7-year bond, aiming to raise 500 million euros ($551.05 million), it said on Tuesday.
The bookbuilding process opened earlier on Tuesday, OTE, which is 45% owned and managed by Germany's Deutsche Telekom , said.

Greece passed the market test successfully on Tuesday, as its 10-year bond issue - for the first time since the country was excluded from the markets in 2010 and entered the bailout mechanism - took advantage of the favorable international climate and the credit rating upgrade by Moody's last Friday.

Greece announced the drawing of 2.5 billion euros, with a rate of 3.90 percent, from its 10-year bond issue on Tuesday, its first such foray in money markets since its emergence from the bailout programs last summer.

Greece is set to issue its first 10-year bond in nine years on Tuesday, in an effort to capitalize on the significant improvement in the climate for Greek assets as well as Moody's two-notch credit rating upgrade last Friday.

Greece plans to issue a 10-year bond this week after Moody's raised its rating by two notches, with the state mandating six international banks for the issue.

It will be the second debt sale since Greece exited its third international bailout in August and the first 10-year bond in a decade.

French banking giant BNP Paribas has no intention of pulling out of Turkey, the chair of the bank said on Sept. 14.

French President Emmanuel Macron promised 1.5 billion euros ($1.85 billion) of public funding into artificial intelligence by 2022 in a bid to reverse a brain drain and catch up with the dominant U.S. and Chinese tech giants, reported Reuters.
