Pope Francis Presented a Plan to Combat Sexual Abuse Against Children

A 21-point plan presented Pope Francis, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

The measures are aimed at combating sexual assaults against children in the Catholic Church.

These include simplified procedures for victims to report offenses and the involvement of external experts in church investigations.

The State Pointed Out How Much Money is Allocated to Media

For the first time since Bulgaria joined the European Union, the Council of Ministers revealed how much money was given to the electronic media under all operational programs; in particular for the period from January 2014 to February 2019.

The information was provided  by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

The President of the Macedonian Parliament Comes to Bulgaria to Vote on the Protocol

Macedonian Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi will attend the vote in the Bulgarian National Assembly on his country's NATO Accession Protocol, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

On 15 February, the Parliamentary Defense Committee approved the Protocol. Voting is expected to take place on Wednesday - 20 February.

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Participated in the Conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East

In Warsaw, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva participated in a ministerial meeting on peace and security in the Middle East, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

Hosts are USA and Poland. US Vice President Mike Pens addressed the participants. Top Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is among the high-ranking participants in the conference.

MPs Are Finally Voting on the Changes to the Electoral Code Today

MPs will vote for the changes in the Electoral Code, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

After nearly a 10-hour meeting of the Legal Commission, they rejected the BSP's proposal to elect a new Central Electoral Commission. It was not accepted that the idea in each section would have cameras to convey the online election day.

Bulgarian PM Met with British Ambassador Emma Hopkins to Discuss the Scripal Case

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with British Ambassador Emma Hopkins, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

They discussed information about the possible poisoning of businessman Emilian Gebrev and a link to the Scripal case.

Emilian Gebrev, army merchant, enters the Special Services Control Commission days after posting on British and Russian sites.

UNICEF: Every Fifth Child in the World Lives in Extreme Poverty

Every fifth child in the world lives in extreme poverty and has less than $ 2 a day. This shows the results of a study by UNICEF and the International Labor Organization, the Bulgarian National Television reports. 

Almost half of the world's children live in "moderate" poverty, with only a third of them covered by social protection.
