Turkey's Central Bank forecasts Inflation Growth of 42.8% in 2022
The Central Bank of Turkey announced at a briefing on Thursday that it has revised its inflation forecasts and now expects them to grow by as much as 42.8% by the end of 2022, compared to a previous inflation forecast of 23.2%.
Central Bank to hold general meeting next month
The Central Bank of Turkey has announced that it will hold an extraordinary general meeting on Feb. 3.
The advance payment of from the bank's 2021 profits to the shareholders and the distribution of reserve funds will be discussed at the meeting next month. The Treasury owns almost all shares o the Central Bank.

Turkish Central Bank submits open letter to government
The Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT) submitted an open letter to the government on Feb. 2 explaining why annual inflation was higher than the country's target range last year.
Turkey's annual inflation rate was 14.6% in December 2020, remaining outside the uncertainty band around the 5% target.
Turkey's Central Bank cuts interest rates 100 bps
The Central Bank of Turkey on April 22 reduced its one-week repo rate 100 basis points.
The bank's policy rate -- also known as the one-week repo rate -- fell to 8.75% from 9.75%.
The decision came in a statement from the bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting -- the fourth of twelve meetings scheduled for 2020.

Central Bank unveils new measures on COVID-19
The Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT) on March 31 introduced new measures to limit the economic fallout from the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The steps aimed to back monetary transmission mechanisms, banks' flexibility in liquidity management, uninterrupted credit flows to the corporate sector, and firms exporting goods and services.

Turkey's Central Bank cuts interest rates 75 bps
The Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT) on Jan. 16 cut its one-week repo rate by 75 basis points.
The bank's policy rate, also known as one-week repo auction rate, has been revised to 11.25 percent, down from 12 percent, according to a written statement.
The bank scheduled 12 committee meetings for 2020.

Manufacturing capacity use down in December
Turkey's manufacturing sector used 77 percent of its capacity in December, according to a Central Bank survey released on Dec. 26.
The capacity utilization rate (CUR) of the manufacturing sector fell slightly this month, 0.2 percentage point on a monthly basis.
