The new building and exhibitions of Istanbul Modern, Türkiye's first modern and contemporary art museum, has opened on May 4. The official opening ceremony of the museum will be held later.

New cruise ship port, Galataport, which is being developed jointly by Doğuş Group and Bilgili Holding in Istanbul's Karaköy district along 1,200 meters of coastline, will welcome its first cruise ship in April 2020.

Doğuş Group's social responsibility platform 'A Place for Art' has opened a joint exhibition at Istanbul's Bomontiada. The exhibition, featuring works by young artists, can be visited between June 22 and 24.

Emre Büyükkalfa has been appointed as the new CEO of TÜV SÜD Turkey, the company said in a statement on Sept. 22. 

TÜV SÜD Turkey completed its reconstruction process, which has been undertaken since October 2016, read the statement.

The Istanbul Municipality has halted construction at the in-progress Galataport project, which has been the subject of debate for over a decade. 

Weeks ago in this column I questioned the demolition of Istanbul's Karaköy Passenger Lounge, a building that was supposed to be under first degree protection. Scrutinizing the Passenger Lounge and the historic adjacent post office building, I asked how the Istanbul Conservation Board could have allowed this.
