The Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) has upwardly revised its forecast for Greece's growth in 2023 to 2.4%, from 1.4% three months ago, following a general trend after statistical agency ELSTAT's positive data for a growth rate of 5.9% in 2022.

Jobless rate jumps to 11.4%

The unemployment rate jumped to 11.4% in February from 10.3% in January, data from Greece's independent Statistics Authority (ELSTAT) show.

Experts say the jump can be attributed to layoffs of many temporary workers employed during the winter tourist season.

The jobless rate is still lower than than recorded in February 2022 (13%).

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced data on the Greek Merchant Fleet (for vessels of 100 GRT1) for November 2021. Particularly:

Energy crisis – Price increases in products due to rising electricity prices

The market is facing a new round of price hikes, as everything shows, with companies declaring themselves unable to contain rising production costs.

The energy crisis is triggering another "wave" of prices rises, causing consumer dissatisfaction, and causing a reduction in purchases to what is absolutely necessary, while many are buying cheaper, lower nutritional value products.
