ESM greenlights Greece's request to repay expensive chunk of IMF loan

The boards of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) agreed on Monday to allow Greece to repay earlier a part of its expensive loan to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), without paying an equal amount to the two organizations.

Tsakalotos: If Regling were my student I would fail him

Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos has slammed ESM Managing Director Klaus Regling after the latter said that the tactics of former finance minister Yannis Varoufakis cost Greece 100 billion euros.
In an interview with Open TV late Thursday, Tsakalotos denounced Regling's allegations as groundless, adding that if he were his student, he would fail him.

Eurozone rescue fund pays final bailout loan to Greece

A eurozone rescue fund says it has paid its final 15 billion-euro bailout loan to Greece, after objections by Germany delayed the payment a few weeks.

The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) said Monday that 9.5 billion euros of it would be used to build up a cash buffer to help Greece meet its financial needs for almost two years.
