A day after energy giant ExxonMobil announced it had discovered a natural gas reservoir in Cyprus's Block 10, US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is likely to participate in the next trilateral summit between Greece, Cyprus and Israel which will be held in March in Israel.

A natural gas reservoir discovered by US oil giant ExxonMobil off the coast of Cyprus may be worth as much as 30-40 billion dollars, according to initial estimates the Cypriot Phileleftheros newspaper reported on Friday.

ExxonMobil added another giant gas discovery to the east Mediterranean region after finding a gas-bearing reservoir offshore Cyprus but infrastructure bottlenecks and geopolitical disputes mean output from the field could be far off.

US oil giant ExxonMobil announced on Thursday the discovery of a significant offshore gas find in Cyprus's Block 10, Kathimerini Cyprus reported.
According to the preliminary interpretation of the data, the natural gas reservoir at the Glaucus-1 well is estimated between 5 trillion to 8 trillion cubic feet.

Tristan Aspray, ExxonMobil Vice President of Exploration for Europe, Russia, and the Caspian will meet with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on Thursday, it was announced.
Aspray will brief Anastasiades on the progress of ExxonMobil's exploratory drillings in Block 10.

In what has been described as a show of force to Greece and Cyprus, Turkey's navy is preparing to hold its biggest ever exercises according to Turkey's state-run Anadolu news agency. 

The "Blue Homeland" exercise, with the participation of frigates, destroyers and fighter jets, will take place in the Black Sea, the Aegean and the Mediterranean between February 27 and March 8.

The Cypriot station referred to a report by Italy's Agenzia Nova that cited a high-level Cypriot source at the the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS) in Cairo which ended on Wednesday.
