New Fraport Slovenija boss optimistic about Ljubljana airport’s future

Brnik – Fraport Slovenija’s new managing director Babett Stapel, who took over at the helm of the company operating Ljubljana’s international airport in October, is optimistic about the airline industry and airport’s future. She sees the industry’s recovery, providing connectivity, and increasing staff numbers as key challenges post-pandemic.

Ljubljana airport gets new solar power plant

Brnik – A solar power plant has been installed on the roof of the parking garage at the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport recently. As the airport said on Tuesday at the commissioning ceremony, this is another step towards reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which has been a strategic goal of the airport since 2013.

Fenerbahçe start season with away victory over Adana Demirspor

Fenerbahçe started the season with a 1-0 away victory over Adana Demirspor on Aug. 15.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock in the first half at Yeni Adana Stadium.

But Fenerbahçe star Mesut Özil brought victory to the Istanbul football club with a close-range finish in the 46th minute as he netted his first goal for the team.

Passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport in H1 plummet y/y

Brnik – Ljubljana airport saw around 70,000 passengers in the first half of 2021, which is almost three times fewer than in the same period last year. An increased number of passengers was recorded in the last two months, and the airport operator is also happy with new links with Ljubljana being established.

Iberia airline connecting Ljubljana and Madrid in August

Brnik – Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport has a new flight connection to Madrid since Monday, operated by the Spanish air carrier Iberia. It will fly to the Spanish capital twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, until the end of August. Airport operator Fraport Slovenija would like to see the route become year-round as soon as possible.

Turkish Süper Lig's 2020-21 fixtures unveiled

Turkish top-tier football league's 2020-21 fixtures were unveiled on July 13. 

The new season will kick off Aug, 13 and end May 22, 2022.

Reigning champ Beşiktaş will begin at home, Vodafone Park, hosting Çaykur Rizespor in Istanbul.

Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray will start the season with away matches against newcomers.
