Gas station worker, 35, suspected to have led Combat 18 Hellas far-right group
A 35-year-old gas station employee from Ioannina, northwestern Greece, is believed to have led the far-right group Combat 18 Hellas, according to police who arrested 11 suspected members of the organization earlier this week.
Of the 11, seven are to face an investigating magistrate on Saturday on charges of running a criminal organization.
Crackdown launched on far-right extremist group
Counterterrorism officers launched an operation in the early hours of Tuesday to arrest suspected members of a far-right extremist group calling itself Combat 18 Hellas.
House raids in various parts of Atttica and in one more location that has not been disclosed have so far led to six people being remanded for questioning in relation to several bomb and arson attacks.

Conservation groups call for more action on protected areas
Ten Greek conservation groups on Friday issued a joint statement expressing support for the government's draft bill aimed at overhauling regulations for protected areas of natural beauty but adding that the legislation was not comprehensive enough.

Apparently the Greek Civil Aviation Authority had left the 14 regional airports in the darkness. Therefore, when the German-Greek consortium FRAPORT took over last April, they found a total of 12.000 burned out bulbs in the fourteen regional airports.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis to visit Thessaloniki
The leader of Greece’s major opposition party New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to visit Thessaloniki on Monday before his official attendance at the the International Fair on September 16 and 17. Mr. Mitsotakis will hold a series of meetings including members of the city’s local economy, scientific and academic community starting at 10.30 in in the morning.
