Bulgaria's populist There Is Such a People (ITN) party has declined to try to form a new national government, paving the way for President Rumen Radev to call snap elections.

ITN's move came after the center-right GERB party and its former coalition partner We Continue the Change (PP) both said they could not form a new government.

"We are quite far from the creation of a Bulgarian vaccine against coronavirus and we should not wait for it," Prof. Penka Petrova, director of the Institute of Microbiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, has told BNR. However, the director of the Department of Immunology at the institute and former ITN MP Prof. Andrey Chobanov said that the drug would be presented on October 5.

Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov stated, in an interview for Nova TV, that he does not have a Canadian passport in his possession, and that he has handed it, and his citizenship certificate over to the Canadian authorizes.

"For personal reasons, the candidate for Minister of Justice Momtchil Ivanov has withdrawn," Plamen Nikolov, nominated by ITN for prime minister announced at a press conference in parliament.  

"His dignity prevents him from going on after everything he went through, all the statements and press publications," Plamen Nikolov explained.

"There is Such a People" party will present its draft cabinet to the leaders of BSP, "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Stand up. BG! We are Coming!". In a letter to media, Toshko Yordanov, chairman of the ITN parliamentary group, said he would invite the three political forces to meetings and present the linrup and structure of the cabinet, because "everything must be transparent."

Bulgaria's anti-establishment party "There is such a people" (ITN), which is currently leading negotiations with other parties to form a government, has accused partner parties of having tried to influence the future government without having the right to do so, which according to parliamentary group leader Toshko Yordano, could lead to new elections - the third within a year.

With 137 votes for, one against and 99 abstained, Iva Miteva from ITN ("There Is Such a People") was elected President of the 46th National Assembly.
