ATHEX: Stock index advances to 40-day high
The Greek stock market made it nine sessions of price growth in a row on Wednesday as most stocks registered moderate gains, although the main index again failed to surpass the psychologically significant 1,100-point milestone. It still climbed to a 40-day high and enjoyed the longest sequence of rising sessions in over 20 months.

ATHEX: Mixed day leaves index in the red
The late decline mainly by bank stocks led the benchmark of the Greek bourse to moderate losses on Wednesday, although the majority of stocks posted gains. The low turnover revealed that many investors chose to sit the session out in anticipation of the decisions by the central banks of the US and Britain.

The main index of the Greek stock market is seriously eyeing the 1,000-point milestone following another session of growth on Friday that saw it climb to its highest level since February 11, 2022, for yet another 11-month high. This time the price growth was universal and not restricted to certain sectors or capitalization sizes, not to mention the increase in turnover.

Pepco: The Polish chain officially debuts in Greece
Opening one store a day - sometimes more than one - Poland's retail discount chain, Pepco, currently has 2,922 stores in 16 European countries, while from October it will add the Greek market to its portfolio.
ATHEX: Lockdown takes toll on stock prices
The prospect of a new Attica lockdown sent the Greek bourse tumbling on Tuesday, with severe losses for banks and the majority of other stocks also heading south, erasing the gains of previous days. All but two blue chips headed lower, but the decline is seen as temporary and not structural.

Retailers struggling to adjust
The hybrid shopping models of click-and-collect and click-inside have started operating in major cities such as Athens, Piraeus, Patra and Halkida due to the new Covid-19 restrictions, with many problems reported and some major enterprises leaving it very late before deciding whether they would employ them or stay closed.
