BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian parliamentary committee on Kosovo-Metohija Milovan Drecun said on Wednesday the groundwork for Tuesday's arrest of a Kosovo Serb in Kosovska Mitrovica - as well as for any further arrests - had been laid by Pristina days beforehand.

Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla told MPs on Friday that alternative routes will be constructed in the Serb-majority north to enable citizens to move freely, without needing to pass through Serbian territory, while illegal roads used for smuggling remain closed.

"The Kosovo police operation is taking place on the orders of the prosecutor across Kosovo, not only in the north, and is not directed against Serbs, but against those charged with corruption and crime," KFOR spokesperson Vincenzo Grasso has told Tanjug.

This is according to Pristina-based media outlets, cited by UNMIK's Media Observer and Tanjug.

"Some media reported several days ago that KFOR placed the border between Kosovo and Serbia at the village of Karacevo, Kamenica municipality, despite opposition from the local residents," UNMIK's website said.
