Foreign direct investment flowing into Turkey has soared in the first five months of this year, according to the head of the presidential investment office.

Ford Otosan, a joint venture of Turkey's Koç Holding and U.S. auto giant Ford, is planning to become carbon neutral by 2050, its CEO Haydar Yenigün has said.

"The brand of Ford prioritizes electrification and environment-friendly investments globally," he told reporters in an online press conference.

Turkey's largest oil refiner Tüpraş will temporarily stop production at its 220,000-barrel-per-day İzmir oil refinery as coronavirus lockdowns hit fuel demand, the firm has said in a stock exchange filing.

Output at the refinery, which has an annual processing capacity of 11.9 million tons, will be suspended from May 5 until July 1, according to the filing.

Most of the Turkish automotive companies are planning to reopen manufacturing plants next week after nearly a one-month-long suspension due to measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Automotive production in many Turkish factories has not been suspended so far despite the measures taken by the authorities to fend off coronavirus pandemic risks, representative of automakers said on March 18.

Italian lender UniCredit has announced the "successful completion of the accelerated bookbuild offering" to institutional investors of approximately 100.7 billion existing ordinary shares in Yapı ve Kredi Bankası, equal to around 12 percent of the Turkish lender's issued share capital.

Exports by the divisions of Koç Holding, Turkey's largest conglomerate, make up fully 10 percent of the country's exports, the company's chairman told Anadolu Agency on Jan. 10.

The 16th Istanbul Biennial's title and conceptual framework was announced by the curator Nicolas Bourriaud at a press conference on Dec. 11. Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and sponsored by Koç Holding, the 16th Istanbul Biennial will take place between Sept. 14 and Nov. 10, 2019. 

Tofaş, a joint venture between Fiat and Turkey's Koç Holding, has said it will suspend production in its key plant for a nine-day period, citing shrinkage in the domestic market.

Italy's top bank UniCredit has confirmed its commitment to Turkey, where it has partnership in Yapı Kredi Bank with Koç Holding, hailing the country's long-term positive potentials.
