Sandoz plans US$90 million investment in Ljubljana
Generics producer Sandoz is planning to invest roughly US$90 million at its site in Ljubljana to establish a dedicated centre for development of biosimilars by 2026. As part of the process to spin off from Novartis, Sandoz holds part of the Slovenian pharmaceutical company Lek.

Lek declared best employer for 4th year
Lek, the Ljubljana-based pharmaceutical company, has been chosen Slovenia's best employer for the fourth year running. Before that, its Novo Mesto counterpart Krka won the title eight times.

Lek to build US$400 million production facility in Lendava
Lek, the Ljubljana-based pharmaceutical company which is part of the Swiss generics group Sandoz, will build a US$400 million high-tech production centre for biosimilars in Lendava, in north-eastern Slovenia. The investment is to create around 300 new jobs.
TAB launching Li-ion battery production
TAB, the Mežica-based maker of lead-acid batteries and one of Slovenia's largest exporters, is planning to launch lithium-ion batteries production in Prevalje, in the north of the country, in February.
The production, involving 40 employees, will be located in a new production hall which TAB has purchased from pharmaceutical company Lek.

China’s Porton and Novartis to create biotech park in Mengeš
Novartis, the Swiss owner of the Ljubljana-based pharmaceutical company Lek, and its Chinese supplier Porton Pharma Solutions, will set up a biotechnological park in Mengeš, central Slovenia. Novartis will lease part of its vacant premises to Porton in what the N1 news portal reports will create 300 new jobs.
Lek planning EUR 83m investment in Ljubljana
Ljubljana – Lek, a Novartis-owned Slovenian drug maker, is planning an EUR 82.6 million investment in Ljubljana to set up a new production facility for liquid vials and pre-filled syringes. The government is expected to subsidise it with EUR 6.56 million, according to working documents prepared for government sessions.

Petrol ranks 9th by total revenue in SE Europe
Ljubljana – Slovenian energy company Petrol ranked ninth by total revenue for 2020 in the SEE TOP 100 ranking of the largest companies in SE Europe, published by business news portal SeeNews. Romanian company Automobile Dacia, a unit of French Renault, was ranked first with EUR 3.8 billion in revenue.

TAB to launch production of lithium-ion cells in Prevalje
Mežica – TAB, the Mežica-based maker of starter batteries for cars and industrial batteries, has founded joint venture TAB-Haidi with an Asian partner to launch production of lithium-ion cells in Prevalje. According to TAB CEO Bogomir Auprih, the launch is expected in the spring of 2022. The project worth about EUR 100 million is to create 300 jobs.
