Investigation to Confirm Whether Debris Found in Indian Ocean Part of Missing MH370

Malaysia sent a team to determine whether the debris, which was recently found on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean, is from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370).

The piece of wreckage, which measures two metres in length, washed up on the island late on Wednesday, the BBC reports.

Russia opposes UN tribunal for MH17 culprits

Russia said on July 9 it will oppose a draft UN resolution circulated by Malaysia on establishing an international tribunal to prosecute those behind the downing of Flight MH17 over Ukraine.

Deputy UN Ambassador Petr Iliichev confirmed Moscow's hostility to the plan, telling reporters: "It's not a good time and it's counterproductive."  

Malaysia Airlines 'technically bankrupt,' says new CEO

Malaysia Airlines is ?technically bankrupt,? its new German CEO said Monday as he outlined plans to stabilize the failing flag carrier including 6,000 job cuts.

?We are technically bankrupt and that decline of performance started long before the tragic events of 2014,? Christoph Mueller told reporters, referring to two deadly disasters that rocked the airline last year.

Dutch expert fired after showing MH17 victim photos

A Dutch expert helping to identify victims from last year's MH17 airliner crash in Ukraine has been fired after showing photographs of the dead at a public lecture, the government said on April 23.  

"The collaboration with George Maat has been terminated," Justice Minister Ard van der Steur told lawmakers in parliament.
