World in shock as Malaysian plane crashes over Ukraine

KIEV -- None of the 298 passengers and crew of a Malaysian passenger plane that crashed in eastern Ukraine survived, and the world is in shock over the tragedy.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs there has been no confirmation so far of Romanian citizens on board of the Boeing 777 aircraft crashed in eastern Ukraine on Thursday.

President Traian Basescu asks for immediate investigations of the circumstances of the airliner downed in Ukraine and demands the participation of EU experts in the inquiry, a release of the Presidential Administration informed.

A Malaysia Airlines jet with 295 people on board crashed Thursday in the hostile eastern region of Ukraine, near the Russian border, reports NBC news. 

According to reports, all 280 passengers and 15 crew are dead.

Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko said he could not rule out that the passenger plane had been shot down.

Six Malaysian families and one Chinese family have so far received compensation from the airline's insurance company, while 40 more expect to receive such in the coming days, BBC reported.
