Turkey brings 98 massive forest fires under control

Ninety-eight of 107 forest fires in Turkey are under control, the nation's Agriculture and Forestry Minister said late on July 31.

Efforts to contain nine blazes are still ongoing, Bekir Pakdemirli said during a news conference at a fire management center in the Depirmenyanı district of southwestern Muğla province.

One will be built at the popular resort of Marmaris on the Aegean and the other will be built in Ahlat, a lakeside town in eastern Turkey.

Missing British woman sought by Interpol spotted in Turkish resort of Marmaris

A 63-year-old English woman who was reported to have gone missing three weeks ago and is the subject of a search by Interpol has been found in a three-star hotel in the Turkish Mediterranean resort town of Marmaris, Doğan news agency reported May 26. 

Court arrests British citizen over marina fire in Turkey's Marmaris

A local court in the Aegean province of Muğla on April 11 ordered the arrest of a British citizen over a deadly marina fire in southern resort district of Marmaris, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

One man, identified as Ekrem Gökçe, was killed and another, identified as Türker Demir, was injured after a fire broke out in a marina run by the Marmaris Municipality on April 10. 

Coup panel thanks Doğan Media Group

Members of the Turkish parliament's coup investigation commission have praised the role Doğan Media played in averting the coup attempt by a group of allegedly Gülenist soldiers on the night of July 15, as CNN Türk, a member of the group, was the first channel to broadcast the president's calls against the attempt.
