Nissan to sell its Russia assets to Moscow
Japanese automaker Nissan will sell its Russian assets, including a factory in Saint Petersburg, to the Russian government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Moscow said yesterday.
The announcement comes after Nissan suspended production at the plant in Russia's second city in March, shortly after Moscow sent troops to Ukraine.

French authorities have issued an international arrest warrant for disgraced former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn, who has lived in Lebanon since his daring getaway from Japan in 2019.
Japan’s Nissan plans ’game changing’ electric car batteries
Nissan is working with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on a new type of battery for electric vehicles that promise to charge quicker and be lighter yet safe, the Japanese automaker said on April 8.
The all-solid-state battery will replace the lithium-ion battery now in use for a 2028 product launch and a pilot plant launch in 2024, according to Nissan.
Nissan hikes net profit forecast again despite chip shortage
Nissan on Feb. 8 hiked its annual net profit forecast again on strong interim results, aiming to weather the global chip shortage as it shifts focus to electric vehicles.
The Japanese car giant now expects yearly net profit to March 2022 of 205 billion yen ($1.8 billion), having already tripled its annual profit outlook in November to 180 billion yen.
Turkish court jails 3 in ex-Nissan CEO escape case
A Turkish court on Feb. 24 handed down jail terms to three people who were accused of aiding former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn's escape from Japan to Lebanon via an airport in Istanbul.
A private cargo company executive and two pilots, who were charged with "migrant smuggling", got four years and two months in prison each.
