Greece is a key partner of America in building the diversification of energy sources and routes in Southeast Europe, said the US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt, in an interview with the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency on the sidelines of Southeast Europe Forum, yesterday, organized in Thessaloniki by the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the American Embassy.

Presidents of US and Ukraine Will Meet at White House

US President Joe Biden will meet with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Wednesday in a show of solidarity between the two countries, the White House said on Sunday. The meeting is taking place two days later than originally scheduled, as Biden oversees the response to Hurricane Ida and the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, Reuters reported.

Angela Merkel to Visit Moscow on August 20, Talks’ Focus on Ukraine, Belarus and Afghanistan

 

Afghanistan, Belarus and Ukraine will be the focus of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to Moscow on Friday, August 20, Germany's Government Spokesperson Steffen Seibert said on Wednesday.

"It will definitely be about major international issues: the conflict in eastern Ukraine, for which Russia can do more than it is doing, and Belarus," he said.

US, Germany seal deal on contentious Russian gas pipeline

The United States and Germany on July 21 announced a deal to allow the completion of a controversial Russian gas pipeline to Europe without the imposition of further U.S. sanctions. The agreement aims to stanch fears about European dependence on Russian energy, but it was immediately assailed by critics who said it doesn't go far enough.

Merkel and Biden Agreed on Common Front against Russian Aggression

The US and Germany will stand together against Russian aggression, President Joe Biden said as he welcomed outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel to Washington.

Mr Biden said he had voiced concern to Mrs Merkel over a Russia-to-Germany gas pipeline, but they agreed Moscow cannot be allowed to use energy as a weapon.
