Top court says law banning tutoring centers violates right to education, private enterprise

Turkey's top court has declared the closing of private tutoring centers, known as "dershanes," were a restraint on the right to education and would leave the private enterprise unprotected, thus making it unlawful to shut them down. 

Turkish Foreign Ministry undergoes major reshuffle

A major reshuffle of some 40 ambassadors has gone into effect, with Öztürk Y?lmaz, the former Turkish consul general to Mosul who was taken hostage last year along with 48 others by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants for 101 days, appointed as ambassador to Tajikistan's capital of Dushanbe.

A tender for the link roads within the scope of the Northern Marmara Highway project, which includes the under-construction third bridge over the Bosphorus, has been postponed yet again, as the interested parties need more time to finalize their proposals, according to an announcement by the General Directorate of Highways.

Nearly 30 power plants to be privatized in Turkey by 2020

A total of 29 hydroelectric and gas-turbine powered  power plants of the Turkish Electricity Generation Corporation (EÜA?), and Turkey's state-run oil company TPAO's oil distribution unit, TP Petrol Da??t?m, have been put under a privatization program, according to a written statement published in the Official Gazette on June 24. 

New amendment to permit civilian officers in army, report says

The Turkish Armed Forces' (TSK) new amendment on employing civilian officers for military positions requiring specific qualifications will alter the superior-subordinate relationship as it will allow chief civilian officers to command their military subordinates, daily Habertürk reported June 16. 

Court cancels access road plans for Istanbul's third bridge

An Istanbul court revoked an amendment on June 11 for the construction plans of the access roads to Istanbul?s third bridge, which is being built in the northern part of the city. The court?s move may halt the bridge?s progress, as the construction of link roads will lose their legal ground.
