One of world’s smallest manned helicopters made in W Slovenia

Tolmin – More than a decade ago Miro Črv started developing a small coaxial helicopter at his home in the hills of western Slovenia. This year his product is being shipped to buyers world-wide, mostly to the US.

The SCH-2A is one of the lightest manned coaxial helicopters in the world. Mirocopter, the business established by Črv, will sell about ten of them this year.

Slovenia interested in hosting regional OshKosh maintenance base

Brussels – Defence Minister Matej Tonin said Slovenia was interested in hosting a regional maintenance base for US-made OshKosh armoured vehicles as he held talks on Thursday with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.

Slovenia bought three dozen OshKosh vehicles last year and Tonin noted countries in the Western Balkans were among the buyers as well.

Delo urges caution in arms deals

Ljubljana – The newspaper Delo notes on Saturday that there is a long history of scandals involving arms deals in Slovenia. Commenting on a government-to-government purchase of a transport aircraft from Italy, the paper says that the Defence Ministry has checked whether the deal could be carried out without an anti-corruption clause in the contract.

Greece To Spend EUR 1B on Army Modernization

Greek Defense Ministry is planning a large-scale modernization of the army which will cost a minimum of EUR 1B.

Currently, the modernization program is up for consideration in the parliamentary defense committee. If approved, the plan will be launched by the end of July, according to local media, cited by Bulgarian private TV station BTV.
