Sixteen prominent legal experts blast chief prosecutor’s intervention on ADAE

Sixteen prominent constitutional law professors have strongly criticised Greece's chief prosecutor Isidoros Dogiakos after he issued a controversial legal opinion arguing that the independent authority responsible for privacy, ADAE, cannot conduct audits of telecommunication companies to find out who is under surveillance by the country's intelligence agency.

ATHEX at over 920 points

The General Index of the Stock Exchange has been moving upwards since the beginning of the session, exceeding the levels of 920 points.

At 11.00 the General Price Index stood at 921.27 points, marking an increase of 0.75%.

The value of the transactions amounts to 4.05 million euros.

56 stocks are up, 13 are down and 12 are flat.

ATHEX – The General Index reached 900 points

The General Price Index of the Athens Stock Exchange is also moving against the international downward trend today, which at 10.49 am was at 901.15 points, strengthened by 0.25%.

At the same time, the turnover amounted to about 2.5 million euros.

The prices of 26 shares strengthened, 24 recorded losses, while 15 remained unchanged.

Culture ministry expands Cosmote deal for free WiFi in more sites, museums

Greece's Culture Ministry on Monday signed an agreement with Cosmote, the mobile phone unit of the country's largest telecom company OTE, to expand free WiF access to the visitors of the most prominent archaeological sites and museums around the country.

The program started several years ago but the new deal extends broadband coverage to 25 sites and museums, from the current 14.

ATHEX: Stock index sent back to 600 points

Increasing pessimism on the coronavirus pandemic's impact on the economy weighed heavily on most blue chips at Athinon Avenue on Monday, including banks, with the benchmark only just remaining above the 600-point level. Prices also suffered pressure from some negative results issued by listed companies over the last few days.

Internet use soars amid lockdown

Greece has seen an increase of at least 50 percent in internet use in recent days following the government's decision to restrict citizens' movements to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, according to officials at the Digital Governance Ministry who indicated however that telecommunications networks are handling the strain so far.
