Turkey's low-cost carrier reaches 22.3 million passengers

Low-cost Turkish airline Pegasus carried a total of 22.34 million passengers in 2015, a 13.2 percent increase from the previous year, the airline announced in a written statement on Jan. 30. 

The number of domestic flight passengers rose by 15.4 percent to 13.81 million and of foreign flight passengers by 9.8 percent to 8.52 million in 2015 compared to the previous year.

Low-cost Turkish carrier to offer 100,000 free tickets to mark 10th anniversary

Low-cost Turkish carrier Pegasus plans to distribute 100,000 free tickets to mark the 10th anniversary of its establishment, with the first 100,000 people who buy a domestic or foreign-bound ticket as of Dec. 3 benefiting from the campaign, according to company representatives. 

The tickets can be used until March 31, 2016, they added.

The only remedy for struggling Turkish airliners, which have not benefited from the drop in oil prices due to existing hedging deals with fuel companies, amid the dramatic rise in the U.S. dollar is to sell tickets in the same currency, according to low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines' Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Serhan Ulga. 

Pegasus to use US dollar for international tickets in Turkey

Turkey's low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines has announced that it has changed the base currency for pricing of international tickets originating in Turkey, from the euro to the U.S. dollar. 

The decision will be effective as of July 1, the company said in a written statement on June 12.
