Egypt condemns Turkey decision to allow troop deployment to Libya

Egypt strongly condemned on Thursday a vote by Turkey's parliament vote to allow a troop deployment to Libya, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Egypt said any such deployment could "negatively affect the stability of the Mediterranean region" and called on the international community to urgently respond to the move. [Reuters]

Aegean tables bid for Croatia Airlines

Greece's largest carrier Aegean Airlines has expressed interest in the privatization of Croatia Airlines and submitted a non-binding bid, it said on Friday.

Aegean, a member of the Star Alliance group, said any decision on whether it would take part in the next phase of the state-owned Croatian carrier's privatization would be taken in the coming months.

Greek jobless rate drops to 16.4 percent in third quarter

Greece's jobless rate fell to 16.4 percent in July-to-September from 16.9 percent in the second quarter, data by the country's statistics service ELSTAT showed on Friday.
About 73.6 percent of Greece's 777,000 jobless are long-term unemployed, meaning they have been out of work for at least 12 months, the figures showed.
