Man allegedly douses woman in liquid, tries to set her on fire

Authorities say a man poured a flammable liquid on a woman and tried to set her on fire.

A statement from the police said the incident, said to be triggered by an altercation, occurred on Monday morning in the western Attica suburb of Zefyri.

A 51-year-old suspect, identified as Roma, has been apprehended by the police in connection with the attack.

Debate hears Roma across Europe still subject to discrimination and hatred

Murska Sobota – Marking the 2 August Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, a panel debate held in Murska Sobota on Friday heard that it was important to remember the Nazi genocide against the Roma as a reminder as Roma were still subjected to discrimination and hate crimes across Europe.

Family Home of Everton Goalkeeper Robin Olsen Burgled

Everton goalkeeper Robin Olsen and his family were threatened with a machete during a break-in at their home, the club has confirmed.

The masked gang stole jewellery and a luxury watch from the Sweden international's house near Altrincham, Greater Manchester over the weekend.

Everton said they were "offering Robin and his family as much support as is possible".

Romania to Punish Anti-Roma Acts with up to 10 Years in Jail

The Romanian parliament on Tuesday adopted a law that will punish anti-Roma "verbal or physical" actions with prison terms ranging from three months to 10 years.

A total of 244 deputies voted for the law, which only one MP rejected. Some 20 legislators abstained and eight did not take part in the vote, according to the Romanian parliament's website.

Roma moved out of settlements

Sixteen of the 20 people at a Roma settlement on the outskirts of Larissa in central Greece who were infected with the coronavirus were transferred on Saturday to a rehabilitation center in the city, in accordance with the operational plan implemented in the area for the protection of public health.

11 arrested during police crackdown in central Greece

Greek police on Wednesday arrested 11 suspects and briefly detained another 96 during a crackdown against a racket involved in robberies and other crimes around the settlement of Pyri in Thiva, central Greece.
The suspects, aged between 14 and 47 and identified as Roma, were charged with setting up and participating in a criminal organization and other crimes.
