ATHEX: Fifth week of gains for benchmark
The main index of the Greek bourse advanced for the fifth week in a row, despite the moderate losses suffered on Friday in what was a rather quiet session. Observers note that traders may be waiting for corporate moves and the placement of the state's 27% stake in Piraeus Bank, so they are saving their strength for now.

ATHEX: Moderate decline for most stocks
The Greek stock market appeared to have run out of steam, with mixed results and little buying interest of note for many stocks for a second day on Thursday. Despite the rise of the banks index and mid-caps, the benchmark could not avoid posting minor losses on Thursday, though it is clear there is no intention for a move toward lower price levels.

ATHEX: Benchmark expands for fourth week
Athinon Avenue ended its fourth consecutive week of gains on Friday with a minor increase for its benchmark that extended its weekly gains somewhat, although the first few hours of the session had promised significantly higher price growth. ATHEX: Benchmark takes another step higher
Unfazed by the decline of the banks index and the majority of stocks, the main index of the Greek stock market started the week with its eighth consecutive session of growth to register yet another 10-year high. A profit-taking move now appears long overdue. The daily trading volume was predictably reduced, given the holiday in the US.

ATHEX: Benchmark and turnover head lower
As Christmas approaches, the action is slowing down at the Greek stock market, with the turnover dropping further on Thursday and the benchmark coming off Wednesday's 16-week high to settle for a point and a half below the 1,300 mark. Yet with five sessions left till the end of the December, 2023 is certain to be another particularly positive year for Athinon Avenue.
