The Greek stock market had another narrow trading session on Wednesday, with mild losses for the majority of stocks and traders shifting their attention to Friday's triple-witching and the upcoming shake-up of the FTSE indices, concerning Mytilineos, Sarantis and Viohalco.

The absence of sellers during Thursday's bourse session at Athinon Avenue resulted in strong gains for the majority of stocks on particularly low trading volume. The buying interest is associated with the state's plans for a 12- month treasury bill issue.

There was something of a reaction on Tuesday at the Greek stock market to the recent selling spree, but the containment of gains during the closing auctions kept the benchmark below the 800-point mark for a second day in a row.

The benchmark of the Greek stock market suffered a considerable slide of more than 2 percent on Friday and the banks index gave up the last of its gains registered since the start of the year, mainly on international concerns regarding the trade war US President Donald Trump is attempting to wage against Europe.

Buyers have returned to the Greek bourse, bringing handsome gains for the vast majority of local stocks on Thursday, although the low trading volume suggested this was more likely a case of profit-taking than confidence in Athinon Avenue.

Morning gains gave way to afternoon losses for Greek stocks on Monday, with all the main indices ending the session near or on their day lows - even though fellow eurozone markets headed higher - while turnover was the lowest of the last 20 sessions.

The massive sell-offs seen on global markets, the euro's drop against other major currencies, the postponement of the seven-year bond issue, and the growing sense that the Greek government is not as stable as had been thought inflicted major losses on local stocks on Tuesday that were eventually contained toward the end of the session.
