President decorates five musicians

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor awarded five Slovenian musicians with honours at a ceremony held in the Presidential Palace on Thursday. The Order of Merit was awarded to Miha Dovžan, Vlado Kreslin, Vladimir Lado Leskovar, Oto Pestner and Andrej Šifrer, the president’s office said.

Largely avant-rock, with a mix of Scandinavian black metal, urban ambient and dark-hop, Sarri is a fixture on the local alternative scene.

Carla Bruni | Athens | October 23-24

Singer-songwriter and France's former first lady Carla Bruni will launch the world tour for her latest album, "French Touch," at the Pallas Theater in Athens, with two shows on October 23 and 24. Bruni's sixth album is a collection of covers, including jazz, pop and rock, sung in English and produced by legendary Canadian producer, composer and musician David Foster.

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kostis Maraveyas takes the stage for four more shows at the Passport venue on February 24 and 25 and March 3 and 4, after a run of sold-out performances. The local act borrows from the musical traditions of the Mediterranean basin to create a fresh and lively mix. Door open at 9.30 p.m.

Jazz Evening | Athens | December 29

Singer-songwriter Miranda Verouli and the Bossa Jazz Trio perform songs in five languages, including jazz standards, Brazilian and Latin hits, among others, at the Numismatic Museum Cafe in Athens on Thursday, December 29. The gig is set to start at 9 p.m. Admission is free but there is a minimum one-drink purchase requirement.

Panos Mouzourakis | Athens | September 10

Singer-songwriter Panos Mouzourakis performs folksy rock tunes from his own repertory as well as covers of other Greek and foreign songs at the Nea Smyrni Alsos park in southern Athens, on Saturday, September 10. The open-air concert is set to start at 8.30 p.m. and admission is 5 euros.
