The World Health Organization (WHO) said on June 1 it has approved a COVID-19 vaccine made by Sinovac Biotech for emergency use listing, paving the way for a second Chinese shot to be used in poor countries.

Turkish delegation visits Russia to discuss vaccines, tourism

Turkey receives second shipment from second batch of Sinovac vaccines
The second shipment of the second batch of COVID-19 vaccines ordered from China arrived early on Jan. 29 in Turkey.
A Turkish Airlines plane that departed from Beijing landed at Istanbul Airport at 6.10 a.m. local time (0310GMT) carrying the 3.5 million doses of the vaccine.
A total of 10 million doses of the vaccine were imported in the second batch.
Turkey expecting 6.5 mln CoronaVac doses on Jan 25
As many as 6.5 million doses of China's CoronaVac vaccine will be delivered to Turkey on Jan. 25, the country's health minister has announced.
"In line with our purchasing plan, the vaccine shipments to Turkey will continue smoothly," Fahrettin Koca tweeted on Jan. 24.

650,000 health workers vaccinated in 3 days
Over 650,000 health care workers in Turkey have received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the first three days of the vaccination campaign in the country.
Turkey started administering the CoronaVac vaccine developed by China's Sinovac Biotech company to health care staff on Jan. 14.
The first batch of 3 million doses of the vaccine arrived in Turkey on Dec. 30.
