Turkish gas distributor Palmet is in talks to acquire the Turkey energy business of Germany's EWE, an official from Palmet said on Jan. 17, after Azeri state firm SOCAR confirmed it had withdrawn from discussions to buy the assets.

Azeri energy firm SOCAR is in advanced talks to acquire the energy business of Germany's EWE in Turkey by the first quarter of 2019, an official for SOCAR and two sources familiar with the deal have said.

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is carrying out a detailed feasibility study for participating in Bulgaria's gas distribution market, reports Interfaxenergy. 

Azeri state energy company SOCAR plans to supply its new refinery in Turkey with oil from different producers in Europe, the Black Sea region and the Gulf, the head of SOCAR's trading arm said in an interview.

Bulgaria plans to cover about 30 percent of its gas needs beyond 2020 with natural gas from Azerbaijan, reducing its almost total dependence on Russian gas, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said on Tuesday, reports Reuters. 

The Balkan country has a contract with Azeri state company SOCAR to import 1 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas a year from the Shah Deniz II field.

Azeri state energy company SOCAR plans to start up its new oil refinery in Turkey next week, a spokeswoman at SOCAR's Turkish division said on Oct. 9.

Italy's Saipem, a consortium including Azeri state firm SOCAR and nine other groups or firms have submitted initial bids to build a gas pipeline between Bulgaria and Greece, the company overseeing delivery of the project said.

Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR is interested in gas distribution in Bulgaria, Director of SOCAR Balkan company Murad Heydarov told Trend July 13.

Back in 2015, the Bulgarian government presented a set of projects on energy cooperation to Azerbaijan.

Today, the Southern Gas Corridor, which will transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe, was officially opened, bTV reported.
It is expected that the Caspian blue fuel will reach Bulgaria after 2 years.

SOCAR Turkey, an affiliate of Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, will launch the Star refinery with a $6.3 billion investment in İzmir in October, the general manager of the refinery said on May 21.
