‘Matter of time’ to find men who beat up metro station manager
It is a "matter of time" to identify and arrest the two passengers who viciously attacked a metro station manager on Wednesday after he asked them to put on their mask, police sources said on Thursday.
According to the sources, their faces have been recorded clearly in the metro's CCTV cameras and officers are now focusing their investigation in the area of West Attica.
Syntagma metro station to close down Sunday
The Syntagma metro station will close down at 9.30 a.m. Sunday "at the suggestion of the police and to ensure the passengers' safety," metro operator Stasy (Urban Rail Transport SA) has announced.
An anti-migration rally will take place at Syntagma Square.

Tram workers furious at removal of ticket machines
News that Athens transport authorities have transferred more than half of the ticket issuing machines on the capital's tram routes to metro and electric railway stations around the city to meet increased demand on the latter modes of transport has prompted an angry reaction by tram workers.

Old tickets discontinued on Athens transport as of Thursday
As of Thursday, old paper public transport tickets can no longer be used.
Commuters are now able to renew electronic 90-minute tickets at machines, as is the case with monthly passes.
Meanwhile electronic barriers will be activated on Monday so that no one without a ticket can get to train platforms.

Driver walkout to halt Athens metro on Thursday night
There is to be no service on the Athens metro on Thursday night from 9 p.m. onwards after drivers said they would hold a work stoppage over working conditions.
The walkout was called on Monday by the union representing employees of the fixed-track transport operator STASY.
Athens metro workers call 24-hour strike on Thursday
There will be no metro service in the Greek capital on Thursday, as workers walk off the job for 24 hours.
The strike has been organized by the SELMA union to protest government plans to include STASY, the company that operates the metro, into the state's asset privatization fund.
