Prominent Turkish airport operator TAV Airports has taken over operations at Almaty Airport, Kazakhstan's main and busiest aviation hub.

The airport's capacity will be doubled with a $200 million investment to build a new international terminal, the operator said in a statement on April 30.

The investment is planned to be completed in less than three years.

(Reuters) - Bulgaria has extended the deadline for submitting bids to run Sofia's airport for a third time, to Feb. 5 following changes in the documents for the concession contract, transport ministry data showed on Wednesday.

Turkey's Akfen Holding has announced it signed a deal to sell a 40 percent stake in the Mersin Port to Australia's IFM Investors for $869 million. 

The share of Akfen in the port declined to 10 percent after the deal was signed. 

In a statement late on July 31, the company said Akfen Holding Chair Hamdi Akın would keep his chairmanship position in the port. 

Turkish airport operator TAV has signed a deal with Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority to operate three airports in the Gulf country in partnership with the Al Rajhi Group, the Turkish operator has announced.

Turkey's Akfen has said it signed an agreement on June 9 to sell its remaining 8.12 percent stake in TAV Airports to France's Aeroports de Paris (ADP) for $160 million. 

The French company plans to expand into new markets in the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe and Africa as well as new areas within Turkey along with TAV, according to company representatives. 

Turkey's TAV Airports has announced that it has included the Qassim and Hail airports in Saudi Arabia to its portfolio, which also includes airports in Madinah and Yanbu. 

TAV, with its partner the Al Rajhi Group, will develop the two airports and operate them for 30 years, according to the statement issued on April 24. 

The Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport in the southern province of Antalya has welcomed its first flight arrival from Russia, amid the start of the summer season, the company said in a statement on April 21. 

The Airports Council International (ACI) has called for the immediate reversal of a ban on electronic devices in aircraft cabins amid efforts from TAV Airports President and CEO Sani Şener, the company said in a statement April 11.
