Telemach rolling out 5G network
Ljubljana – Having acquired frequencies for wireless broadband in a national auction, the telecommunications provider Telemach is launching its 5G network on Tuesday, initially making it available to users in the centre of Ljubljana and the commercial district BTC.

Bidder says suspension of TS Media sale bad news for Slovenia
Ljubljana – Responding to Telekom Slovenije suspending the sale of its subsidiary TS Media, United Group, one of the bidders, said that this was bad news for all foreign investors and even worse for Slovenia.
Four bidders buy wireless frequency bands for EUR 164m
Ljubljana – The Agency for Communication Networks and Services (AKOS) concluded on Friday a wireless spectrum auction as part of which it also offered frequency bands for 5G mobile networks. It has fetched EUR 164.2 million as all four bidders – A1 Slovenija, Telekom Slovenije, Telemach and T-2 – have been awarded frequency bands.
New management appointed at Telekom
Ljubljana – The supervisory board of Telekom Slovenije, the state-owned telecoms incumbent, appointed a new management board on Wednesday headed by CEO Cvetko Sršen after dismissing the current board members.

Skytoll e-tolling deal under scrutiny
Ljubljana – The parliamentary Public Finance Oversight Commission is to discuss the recent decision by the motorway company DARS to pick the Slovak company Skytoll to set up the country’s e-tolling system in the wake of reports that DARS tailored the tender for Skytoll. The decision will also be challenged by one of the rivals in the tender.

EIB ready to co-fund Slovenia’s post-crisis recovery
Ljubljana/Luxembourg – The European Investment Bank (EIB) is ready to help Slovenia financially after the Covid-19 crisis, EIB vice-president Lilyana Pavlova told the press on Friday. Finance Minister Andrej Šircelj stressed the importance of investment for post-epidemic recovery.
Slovakia’s Skytoll to set up e-vignettes system in Slovenia
Ljubljana – Slovakia’s Skytoll has been selected to set up a system for electronic tolling of cars, which is to become operational in December, the state-run motorway company DARS said on Friday. Skytoll offered to set up the system for EUR 15.7 million and its bid was the only one meeting the criteria. Appeals are still possible.
United Media planning to expand to Slovenia with news portal
Ljubljana – United Media, the media division of United Group, plans to expand to the Slovenian market this year by setting up a news portal under the N1 brand, which is already active in the region.
The Luxembourg-based United Media has already opened the Adria News subsidiary in Ljubljana under which the N1 Slovenija web portal will operate.
Telekom secures EIB loan to expand fibre optic network
Ljubljana – Telekom Slovenije has signed a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) worth up to EUR 100 million for the expansion of its fibre optic network through 2023.
Telekom Slovenije planning EUR 30.8 million in profit in 2021
Ljubljana – The Telekom Slovenije group plans to generate EUR 653 million in operating income and EUR 30.8 million in net earnings, the company announced on the website of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The group’s supervisory board has endorsed the business plan.
