Japanese energy conglomerate ENEOS Holdings said yesterday it will withdraw from a gas project in coup-hit Myanmar, days after its Thai and Malaysian partners announced they would pull out.

Telenor has recently become the third player on our cable market. Through its new service for households called Hipernet, presented to the public last month, it will offer customers fiber optic internet, digital television and fixed telephony.

The Ministry of Health is launching a new information campaign aimed at promoting vaccination against COVID-19 in the country. It includes sending a short text message (SMS) to the private subscribers of the three telecommunications operators in the country - A1, Vivacom and Telenor, which provide technical assistance to the information campaign.

Starting from Thursday, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo are dropping all roaming charges.

This means that citizens of these countries can make phone calls and send messages across the Western Balkan region without restrictions, paying the same prices as if they are in their home country.

The entry of the new operator accelerates the competition on the telecommunications market, since the other participants are in some way forced to design attractive offers in order to acquire new and retain existing users, said retired professor of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade Irini Reljin.

Telenor Serbia has filed a lawsuit before the competent judicial authorities in Serbia for unfair market competition against United Group B.V. Netherlands, Srpske kablovske mree d.o.o. Beograd, Adria News s.a.r.l. Luxembourg, and Adria News d.o.o. Beograd.

"Our goal is to have as much as available channels in our offer, including N1 and Nova S. Telenor is and will continue to fight false allegations by using all legal means to protect the reputation of our company, which we have been carefully building for 15 years. That is why we have filed law suits - to protect our reputation and prevent future damage", Goran Vasic said.

Myanmar's new military government has blocked access to Facebook as resistance to Feb. 1's coup surged amid calls for civil disobedience to protest the ousting of the elected civilian government and its leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Facebook is especially popular in Myanmar and the ousted government had commonly made public announcements on the social media site.

In the Balkans, Slovenia is ahead of the rest, with Telekom, the country's leading provider of ICT services, having already launched the first 5G mobile network in July this year. Slovenia is now one of 18 of the European Union's 27 members with a 5G commercial network.

The Bulgarian telecom operator Telenor may change ownership again, just two years after the Czech group PPF owned by Petr Kellner purchased the company. This was featured in Mergermarket, a specialized merger and acquisition information platform, citing anonymous industry directors as sources, as reported by Capital.
