Callas Gala | Athens | September 2

The Herod Atticus Theater will be hosting an opera gala on Monday, September 2, to help raise funds for the Maria Callas Academy Society, which hopes to purchase the building at 61 Patission Street in downtown Athens, where the Greek opera legend spent a part of her formative years from 1937 to 1945, and turn it into its headquarters.

Easter at St Paul's | Athens | April 24

The program of Easter concerts at St Paul's Anglican Church continues on Wednesday, April 24, with a double bill. At 8 p.m., Magda Mavroyianni (narrative), Marissa Papalexiou (soprano), Natalia Gerakis (flute) and Dimitris Yakas (piano) will present "Mary Magdalene," a program of music by Jules Massenet, Andre Caplet, Antonius Divitis, Theodoros Karyotakis and Ottorino Respighi.

Faure's ‘Requiem’ | Athens | April 10

Saint Paul's Anglican Church inaugurates its Easter program of concerts with Gabriel Faure's masterpiece "Requiem," written between 1887 and 1890. The mass for the dead features soprano Marilena Striftobola and baritone Dimosthenis Stavrianos, the Musica Raeda chamber orchestra, under the baton of Dimitris Dimitriadis, and the Kallitechnimata and Panteion University choirs.

Murcof | Athens | March 19 & 20

Mexican composer Murcof (Fernando Corona) brings his sparse, minimalist electronica, based on abstract, glitchy, sometimes complex electronic percussion, to St Paul's Anglican Church. Tickets cost 17 euros and are already sold out for the Monday, March 19, show. Tuesday's concert begins at 9 p.m.

Romeo and Juliet | Athens | March 2, 4, 7 & 11

The Greek National Opera presents Charles Gounod's dramatic "Romeo and Juliet" at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), marking the bicentenary of the composer's birth in a production directed by Greece's Nikos Mastorakis and featuring Ismael Jordi and Myrto Papatanasiu as the star-crossed lovers. Shows start at 7.30 p.m. on March 2 and 7 and at 6.30 p.m. on March 4 and 11.

Laurel Halo | Athens | November 18

On her latest album, "Dust," US-born, Berlin-based electronica artist Laurel Halo blends Latin and jazz into techno and ambient beats. Joined by drummer Eli Kaszler, Halo will be performing at St Paul's Anglican Church in Athens on Saturday, November 18, as part of her European tour. The concert starts at 9 p.m.

Carla Bruni | Athens | October 23-24

Singer-songwriter and France's former first lady Carla Bruni will launch the world tour for her latest album, "French Touch," at the Pallas Theater in Athens, with two shows on October 23 and 24. Bruni's sixth album is a collection of covers, including jazz, pop and rock, sung in English and produced by legendary Canadian producer, composer and musician David Foster.
