Top Turkish official meets with Russian, French diplomats in New York

Turkey's Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal met on Sept. 24 with senior diplomats from Russia and France and discussed agenda topics with a top U.N. official in New York at the 76th U.N. General Assembly. 

Önal met his Russian counterpart, Sergey Vershinin, and discussed developments in the political process in Libya and Syria, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.

Turkey to never compromise its sovereign rights in E Med: Ministry

Turkey will not compromise its sovereign rights on the island of Meis, or airspace covering 10 nautical miles, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Dec. 5.

"No sanctions will ever make Turkey compromise its sovereign rights be in Meis/Kastellorizo or 10 nm airspace," the ministry said on Twitter in response to Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias' article against Turkey.

Turkey voices sorrow over Pakistani plane crash

Turkey on May 22 offered condolences to Pakistan over a deadly plane crash in the early hours of the day.

"We receive the news with deep sorrow that a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed into a residential area close to Jinnah Airport in Karachi resulting in the loss of many lives," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Turkey honors diplomats killed in Sydney

Turkey on Dec. 17 commemorated two of its diplomats who were assassinated by an Armenian terrorist group in 1980 in Australia.

"We remember with respect our martyrs Şarık Arıyak, Consul General, and Engin Sever, Security Attaché, assassinated by the JCAG terrorist organization in Sydney on 17.12.1980," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.
