Although Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s candidacy for the upcoming August presidential elections was announced July 1, it has been revealed that someone with a strong sense of foresight had opened a Twitter account for the “might-be-president” four years ago. 

Santos comments attract criticism back in Greece

Four Turks detained by Greek coastguards ask for Turkish officials’ help

Four Turkish citizens detained one month ago by Greek coastguards while sailing in the Aegean Sea have taken to Twitter to demand help from Turkish officials.

One Turk is under arrest in Greece and the three others have been released on probation. The three released fishermen cannot leave the country due to a ban by the court.

Turkish OSCE observer released after intense diplomacy: Davutoğlu

Four Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) observers, including Turkish obsever Mehmet Kılıç, were released by the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine in an apparent goodwill gesture on June 27.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said on June 27 that kidnapped Turkish observer Kılıç's release was obtained following intense diplomacy.

EU Grants Albania Candidate Status

Albania has been granted an EU candidate status on Tuesday, during the meeting of EU ministers in Luxembourg.

"Albania congratulations on candidate status just agreed by ministers: acknowledgement of reform efforts, encouragement for more”, EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele wrote on Twitter.
