Giovanni Vale: Venice’s Legacy Still Shapes the Balkans

It features some 40 towns and cities in seven countries - Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece and Cyprus - all of which were once part-ruled by the Venetian Republic.

Vale says that although the Venetian state hasn't existed since 1797, it has left behind it a powerful heritage in terms of culture, architecture, gastronomy and language, which he seeks to explore.

Mariya Gabriel Will Participate in the Digital Knowledge and Skills Day in Haskovo

Mariya Gabriel, Bulgarian Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, will visit Haskovo on November 11 to participate in the Digital Knowledge and Skills Day under the motto "Programming and Creating Together". This was announced by the Press and Media Department of the EC Delegation to Bulgaria.

The event will start at 11:00 am in the Zarya Community Center.

Scandinavian travelers’ impressions of Greece showcased at Nordic Library

For the Swedish orientalist and Greek philologist Jakob Jonas Bjornstahl - the first known Scandinavian traveler to visit Greece, in 1779 - Thessaly and the Vale of Tempe in the winter felt just like home. And in 1878, Finnish architect, writer and artist Jac Ahrenberg was surprised to find that Athens reminded him of cities back in his own country in many ways.

English Burton Albion Sign Bulgarian Goalkeeper Evtimov on Short-term Deal

BURTON Albion have signed goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov on a one-month deal.

The 25-year-old Bulgarian has been with Championship club Nottingham Forest since 2011 and has had loan spells at Mansfield Town and Port Vale amongst others.

He was released by Forest at the end of August and became a free agent.
