Bucharest, Aug 25 /Agerpres/ - The Memorandum of Understanding proposed by the Ministry of Investment and European Projects (MIPE) for the collaboration between the Government of Romania and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support European-funded projects 2021-2027 was approved on Wednesday, in the Government's meeting, according to a release sent to AGERPRES.

Minister of Finance Alexandru Nazare and World Bank Country Manager for Romania and Hungary in the Europe and Central Asia Region Tatiana Proskuryakova signed today in Bucharest the loan agreement for the additional 150 million euro funding aimed at supporting the health reform project - improving the quality and efficiency of the health system, a press release of the Finance Ministry informs.

"I have had positive numbers during the pandemic," he said.

The projections published on Tuesday by the International Monetary Fund confirms that the Romanian government has started from correct budgetary premises and that Romania is on the right track, but caution is still needed, especially regarding government outlays, according to Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare.

The World Bank expects Bulgaria's economy to grow by 2.6 per cent this year and by 3.3 per cent next year, which is respectively 0.7 and 0.4 percentage points less than their January estimate. The assessment was part of the spring report published on the institution's website.

Turkey welcomed late on Feb. 15 the appointment of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the new director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO). 

Turkey should combine its success in containing the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic in the short-term with "monetary discipline" to achieve a sustainable recovery, the World Bank has said in its latest Turkey Economic Monitor report.
